Beware: Fake 18K Jewelry Scam Continues in Lower Mainland

7/10/20241 min read

Introduction

In a continuation of my previous blog post from December 2020, I wanted to update everyone on the ongoing scam involving a group posing as a family selling fake 18K jewelry. This group, consisting of a husband, wife, and their child, has been seen driving around the Lower Mainland, targeting unsuspecting individuals with their counterfeit gold items.

The Scam Details

The organized group still uses the same chain links and metals as they did back in 2020. They stamp their fake jewelry with '18K,' making it appear genuine to the untrained eye. Unless you have experience dealing with gold, it can be challenging to recognize these counterfeits. They offer a variety of items, mixing and matching different pieces to sell their fake gold to innocent people all over Vancouver's mainland.

New Additions to Their Collection

Since my last post, this fraudulent group has expanded their collection. The so-called gold rings have been redesigned, making them look even more convincing. It's crucial to stay vigilant and scrutinize any jewelry you consider purchasing, especially if it comes from a source you're unfamiliar with.

What to Look Out For

To avoid falling victim to this scam, here are a few tips:

  • Always buy jewelry from reputable dealers.
  • Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true.
  • Inspect the jewelry closely for any signs of wear or inconsistencies.
  • If possible, get the jewelry tested by a professional before making a purchase.

Conclusion

This group continues to roam the Lower Mainland, deceiving people with their fake 18K jewelry. By staying informed and cautious, you can protect yourself and others from falling prey to their scam. Please refer to the photos of the previous items and the new additions to familiarize yourself with their tactics. Stay safe and spread the word to help others avoid this ongoing deception.
